November 8 is Intersex Solidarity Day.

We’ve just completed the latest edition to our Resources section, your source for links, articles and news for the LGBTIQ community.  A new Intersex Information and Resources page is now online. It seems the subject of intersexuality is getting more and more attention in the last few months. There’s a great section on intersex science, history and politics on Wikipedia that defines intersexuality as “a state of a living thing (where) sex chromosomes, genitalia, and/or secondary sex characteristics are determined to be neither exclusively male nor female. An organism with intersex may have biological characteristics of both the male and female sexes. Intersexuality is the term… applied to human beings who cannot be classified as either male or female. Intersexuality is also the word adopted by the identitiary-political movement, to criticize medical protocols in sex assignment and to claim the right to be heard in the construction of a new one.”

The addition of intersex resources was inspired by a comment posted on Life on Q by Curtis Hinkle, founder of the Organisation Intersex International, requesting a link to the organization’s Website.  That led me on a Google chase of additional intersex resources.

You’ll find a link to Life on Q’s intersex resources on our Resources page, some of the most-visited content on the blog.  If you have ideas for other resource categories, post a comment or send an e-mail to editor@lifeonq.com.

I am writing on behalf of the Organisation Intersex International to add a link to OII, the largest grassroots intersex organisation in the world. ISNA is now defunct.
